How Creative Renovations Can You Keep Your Kitchen Organized
No matter what your kitchen's size is, you can probably always use a little help with keeping it organized. There's rarely ever enough space in a kitchen, and adding a new set of pots and pans or an appliance can force you to rethink how you're using the entire space. Between food, dishes, and appliances, you can run out of room in your Ottawa home's kitchen very quickly.
But if you need help keeping your kitchen organized and manageable, the professional renovators at Milowen General Contracting can help.
Here are a few ideas for kitchen renovations that can help you out tremendously with organization:
Install a Lazy Susan
Lazy Susans are an excellent way to make the most of the space you have in your kitchen. Installing a lazy Susan with multiple levels in a cabinet can double the amount of accessible storage space you have by allowing you to easily access the back and sides of the cabinet.
This is a popular choice for corner cabinets especially, where space is frequently sparse and underused. The 360° design allows you access of all of the space of your cabinet. Lazy Susans are a great way to store pots and pans, which are often stacked or shoved away and can easily become disorganized.
Upright Storage
One great variation of a cabinet for kitchens in Ottawa is an upright storage space. Things like sheet pans, baking pans, and cutting boards don't always have a natural place for storage, and they can wind up taking up more space than they need to. They'll often end up laying flat at the bottom of a shelf, and you'll need to move several items off of it in order to access it.
A thinner, taller cabinet is a great place to keep these items, where they can be stored upright and out of the way of other items. We can add a rollout shelf to this cabinet as well, which will allow you to not only store baking pans upright, but give you more options with hanging pans or utensils on the sides of the wall that you can easily access by rolling out the shelf.
Extra Shelves
The shelves inside your Ottawa home's cabinets are one of the easiest things for you to allow to get cluttered. Saucers get stacked on top of plates, and bowl on top of saucers. You’re stacking these items because you need to save space, but now each time you need a plate, there’s a layer of saucers and bowls that you’ve got to get out of the way first.
Saucers and plates require much less vertical space than bowls or glasses, so installing an extra rollout shelf only a few inches beneath your regular shelves can help save you lots of space. You can store plates and saucers here, and we can create a similar drawer for pot and pan lids.
